Update: Libby has been accepted by another rescue organization. We have foster homes willing to take in Nala, Zoey, and Gypsy so we will be accepting them into our rescue.

Update: This dog has been reclaimed by her owners so she is no longer in need of rescue.
This young, female dog entered a regional pound last week and so far no one has claimed her. The pound is willing to hold her until Wednesday, March 24th in order for rescue placement to be found. More...
She is estimated to be around 6-7 months old. She was very scared when she first arrived at the pound. She is shy at first but once she gets to know you she is very friendly & playful. She also doesn't seem to mind other dogs or cats!
We want to help but are in need of a foster home willing to care for this young dog while we try to find her a forever home. Please help - apply to foster or adopt this sweet girl.
Update: 4 Luv of Dog rescue was going to take this sweet dog in but she was diagnosed with Canine Parvovirus. In the last few months we have taken in a few dogs that have had this virus and have successfully treated them - but the treatment is very expensive and the dogs must be quarantined for several weeks. Sadly, we just could not afford to take this dog in to our rescue at this time. We also had nowhere for her to go, since she would have to be isolated for several weeks. We try so hard to save all of the homeless and unwanted dogs in our area but the sad reality is we cannot. Please say a prayer for this dog. We could not save her but we will not forget her.
This young, female dog entered a regional pound last week and no one has claimed her. Her time is up. The pound is willing to hold her until March 10th in order for rescue placement to be found. More...
She is estimated to be around 9-12 months old and weighs about 35lbs. She is very friendly with everyone & other dogs. She is also very curious of cats but still a little scared of them. She is a very active little girl that will make someone a great pet!
We want to help but are in need of a foster home willing to care for this dog while we try to find her a forever home. Please help - apply to foster or adopt this sweet girl.
Another Update: The foster home for the regional rescue organization that took these dogs in was unable to continue caring for them. They have now been transferred to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue and are now available for adoption through us.
Update: Another regional rescue organization now has a foster home caring for these pups.
These puppies came from a farm that continues to breed their Yellow Lab and German Short Hair. We took in Spot, who is in also available for adoption, from this farm.
There are three females who are black and white in color and one male that is solid black. These puppies are in need of fosters. They were very, very hungry when taken in by local animal control. They are only 5-6 weeks old and in need of alot of TLC.
Please help by offering one of them a foster home.
Update: Another regional rescue organization has accepted this dog into their program.
We have been notified that there is a young (1 year) wire haired pointer in a regional pound that is in need of rescue. The Animal Control officer indicates that he is very friendly and quite the lover.
In order for our rescue to help this dog, we need a foster home committed to caring for him. Please consider becoming a foster home and fill out a foster home application.
Update: The lab puppy has been accepted by another regional rescue. Foster homes have been found for the two adult dogs so we will be accepting them into our rescue program.
There are 3 dogs in a regional pound that are running out of time. All three dogs need a rescue commitment by Friday at 12pm (noon). In order for our rescue to consider taking these dogs we need an approved foster home for them. Please contact us ASAP if you are interested in helping any of these dogs.
- An adult black Lab and and adult male yellow lab that were picked up
together. They are big dogs and seem very friendly.
- A 9 week old male black lab pup.
Gypsy Needs Rescue Commitment by
End of the Week! Update: Another regional rescue organization has offered Gypsy a placement in their program.
Gypsy, is a very sweet pitbull who is running out of time in a regional pound. The pound workers say she is very nice, well mannered and walks well on leash. We are unsure of her age but she on the younger side 1-3 yrs old. We only have until the end of the week to rescue this beautiful girl. But without a commited foster we can not save Gyspy. Please contact us ASAP if you are interested in helping.
Maddie Needs a New Home
Update: Maddie has been accepted into our rescue.
Maddie is a very sweet Terrier/Shepherd (best guess) cross. She was originally adopted from a ND impound facility, but she grew bigger than expected so her current owner needs to rehome her. Maddie is only 6 months old and already looking for a 3rd home, how sad. Maddie is said to be very good with children and other dogs. She is very affectionate. She has fur like a terrier but markings like a shepherd.
We would like to take Maddie into our rescue but we are in need of a foster home for her. Please help Maddie find her forever home, apply to become a foster home.
Update: We have been notified that Buddy has found a new home.Buddy is in need of a foster home immediately! He was going to be shot by his owners because they were moving and could not take him with them. A kind person was able to save him but cannot keep him and he must find a foster home. He likes dogs (both big and small) and children. He seems to ignore cats but has not been truly "cat tested". He has been tied up by his previous owners outside, but seems to be housebroken and is kennel trained.
Would you like to take this gentle guy into your home so he knows what true love is? Please fill out a foster home application.
These Two Boys Need a New Home!
Update: A foster home has been found for these two dogs so we will be accepting them into our rescue.
These two boys are 6-7 months old and wishing for a new home for Christmas. They were turned in to a regional humane society that can only keep them for a few weeks. We have been asked to help find them a foster or new forever home.
We are told that they have no aggression issues with food, dogs, or people. They are eager to please and relatively well-mannered.
Can you help by offering either, or both, of them a foster home? Please fill out a foster home application.
American Eskimo in Regional Pound Needs Rescue!
Update:
Snowball has been rehomed via another regional rescue organization.
Snowball is a 3 year old, neutered male, American Eskimo in a regional pound who will be euthanized on Friday unless a rescue can be found for him.
Can you help by providing him a foster home? Please fill out a foster home application.
Update: Rocky is being accepted into the 4 Luv of Dog Rescue program. We
hope to get him transported here to the Fargo area this weekend.
Rocky is a 3-5 year old male pitbull mix who is stuck in a regional impound facility. He desperately needs a rescue to take him in as he will be euthanized on Friday, November 20th, if no one offers him help.
Rocky is very friendly with people and does not jump up on them. He seems fine with the other dogs at the pound. He was introduced to a cat and was scared of her so would probably get used to them over time. He needs some leash training but he should be easy to train since he's eager to please! Rocky is a favorite of the kennel workers and they really don't want to see him euthanized. The kennel workers also indicate that he is very quiet as they have not heard him bark yet.
Please offer Rocky a 2nd chance at life by offering to become a foster or adoptive home for him.
Stray Dog Needs Rescue from Regional Pound
Update: 4 Luv of Dog Rescue is so thankful that we found a Foster
home for Billy. He is being accepted into our rescue this weekend. Billy,
that is what we have named him, has not known much love in his life, but
he has forgiven all the pain and neglect he has known. Billy has no top
or bottom teeth, but he can still eat semi-soft dog food and loves it! Billy
was found starving to death in a rural area outside of Fargo. It was assumed
he had been dumped. A very nice citizen offered him food, brought him to
the local pound and contacted our rescue.
4Luv of Dog has been keeping tabs on Billy and once we knew no owner came for him we told the pound we would take him and began working on his transport. 4 Luv of Dog Rescue is so happy to report that Billy will be in our care as of this weekend(12-5-09). He is a very loving Golden mix that will be looking for a family to snuggle with, go for walks and play with for many more years. He is such a wonderful dog and he deserves to be apart of family that loves and respects him. If you have enough love in your heart and room in your home please consider adding Billy to you family this year.
Poor Billy is an adult mixed breed dog who was found as a stray. He was starving and appeared to have been dumped in a rural area. He is now being cared for at a Vets office which is also the area pound. His time is up and he needs a home. Billy has been very gentle and friendly with the office staff. Sadly he has no front teeth (top or bottom). We do not know what happened to his teeth but he is still able to eat and drink. We do know that Billy has had a very rough life and deserves to know the comforts of a loving home.
Please help us save Billy by offering to foster him.
Update: Bagel is in the care of a Minneapolis rescue who has experience with blind puppies and bully breeds.
Bagel is a sweet 12 week old American Bulldog puppy. Bagel is blind and is endanger of being disposed of because he can not be sold since he is blind.
Our rescue knows Bagel deserves a chance at life and a loving home. He is looking for a foster or forever home that will give him the patience, love, respect and training he needs. Please give Bagel a chance by fostering or adopting him.
Blind Puppy Poem
I cannot see you mommy, when you cuddle me so near,
and yet I know you love me, it's in the words I hear.
I cannot see you daddy, when you hold me by your side,
but I still know you love me, when you tell me so with pride.
I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright,
for here inside my little head it's always dark as night.
I cannot see the treats you give me when I'm extra good,
but I can wag my tail in "thanks" just like a good dog should.
"She cannot see, the dog's no good" is what some folks might
say,
"she can't be trained, she'll never learn, she must be put away."
But not you mom and daddy, you know that it's alright,
because I love you just as much as any dog with sight.
You took me in, you gave me love and we will never part,
because I'm blind with just my eyes, I see you in my heart.

Update: We have been notified that another regional rescue has offerred to take Jewel into their rescue program.
Poor Jewel is a Husky in urgent need of a loving foster. She has spent her
whole life chained in a backyard. Her owner has never socialized her and
she has suffered severe neglect. Jewel has had many litters of puppies starting
when she was only six months old. She is not a good mom and has neglected
every litter of her pups. A local rescue paid to have her spayed but her
owners sent another dog instead to be spayed.
Our rescue desperately would like to help Jewel but we can't unless a foster home can be found to care for her. Jewel will need a very patient, dog savy foster to help her. Right now we are looking for a foster with no other pets. Please help Jewel by offering her a loving foster home. Please fill out a foster home application if you have not already done so.
Haley, Australian Shepherd Mix, Needs Foster Home by Friday!!!
Update: Haley has been accepted by another regional rescue.
Haley is a female Australian Shepherd mix whose time will be up on Friday (10/23/2009) at a regional dog impound facility. Sadly, her most recent owner moved and dumped her in the country to fend for herself. Haley does not deserve this as she is a great dog, gets along with kids, cats, and other dogs. Haley is up to date on shots, spayed and house trained.
Please consider giving Haley a foster home so we can help find her a loving forever home.
Update: PupPup (now known as Jake)has been accepted into our rescue. A big THANK YOU goes out to the home that offered to foster him!
PupPup had been living in a garage with a rope embedded in his neck until last Friday when some volunteers took him to a vet to get it removed. Click here for pictures of his open neck wound from the rope (Warning: the pics are graphic). Sadly he had to return to living in the garage because there was no where else for him to go.
We are concerned for PupPup's well being and are worried his open neck wound will get infected because his current owners will not care for it properly. We would like to accept PupPup into our rescue but we have no available foster homes able to care for him. PupPup is good with other dogs and kids. Please offer this dog a loving foster home by filling out a foster home application.
Update: Tiny has been accepted into our rescue. Unfortunately he has some medical issues that will need to dealt with. He currently is being boarded up in Grand Forks (Thanks Wag-N-Train). Once his medical issues have stabilized a bit we will try to place him in a foster or adoptive home.
Tiny looks to be a purebred American Bulldog. He is about 115lbs and a very, very sweet dog. He interacts well with two 10 and 12 year old girls. He gets alone fine with another female dog but the other male dog doesn't seem to like Tiny. Tiny does NOT like cats.
Tiny was a stray. The people currently caring for him have medical issues and are finding it difficult to care for him. He is currently kept tied up outside. With colder temperatures coming soon we would like to accept him into our rescue so that we may find him a new loving home.
We need a foster home willing to provide Tiny loving care until his new forever adoptive home comes along for him. Please offer this dog a foster home by filling out a foster home application.
Update: Xerxes has been accepted into our rescue thanks to the foster home who offerred to care for him. Sadly, Xerxes' owner can no longer care for him due to medical reasons. A relative has asked us for assistance in finding Xerxes a new home. Xerxes is a lovable dog that is about one and half years old. He weighs about 80 lbs and is a bundle of energy. Xerxes does get along with other dogs.
We would like to accept this dog into our rescue but need a foster home willing to provide him loving care. Please offer this dog a foster home by filling out a foster home application.
Skylar & Toby
Accepted into our Rescue!
Foster Homes and/or Financial Assistance Needed!
Both Toby and Skylar have been accepted into our rescue despite the fact
that we still don't have foster homes for them. Both dogs were about to
be euthanized- Skylar due to lack of kennel space at a regional humane society
and Toby due to lack of appropriate shelter from the impending winter weather.
We are looking for a foster or adoptive home for these dogs. Please give them a chance to find a loving home of their own! Until a foster home can be found for them, we would appreciate any financial assistance you can provide towards their boarding expenses.
URGENT - Three Dogs In Regional Tribal Pound Need Rescue!
Update: 4 Luv of Dog Rescue has accepted the shepherd mix into our rescue. Her name is Farrah. The two lhasas will be accepted into a Minneapolis based rescue organization.
One of our foster home volunteers works with tribal police on a regional indian reservation to help save dogs in the pound there. She frequently sends out emails to regional rescue groups asking for help in saving these dogs. On Wednesday, September 2, she emailed out the following plea for these three dogs.
Subject: 2nd Plea: Rescue Needed! Gorgeous dogs!!!
3 tribal pound dogs need rescue! 2 grayish-black small male dogs (Imaybe
Lhasas? what do you think?). The larger one is older than the smaller one.
Free grooming is available prior to transport for these 2 cuties!!!
One female shepherd mix. The shep mix is an absolute honey and completely
beautiful. She is a light blonde color with some shepherd markings, the
shepherd ears, face and body but with ice-blue eyes. One eye is bothering
her quite a bit. She likes dogs and kids ( can cat test her). She is super
nice, calm and doesn't bark!!! She is an absolutely wonderful dog- loving,
sweet, smart and gorgeous!!!!!!
Please contact me if you are interested, especially if you are willing to
help the shepherd girl!!! I can find an emergency foster home for the little
guys, so this girl is the most urgent...
***Rescue(s) must spay/neuter and do home visit prior to adoption and adopt
out as indoor dogs only...***
Here are the pictures that were attached to the email.
Our rescue would LOVE to be able to help rescue these dogs. But we need foster homes willing to care for them or individuals willing to provide financial support for boarding expenses. Please help!
Update: LJ has been accepted into our rescue.
LJ is a 1 year old lab/springer spaniel mix whose owner doesn't have the time to appropriately care for him. Unfortunately, LJ spends his days tied up outside with no shelter. We would like to find a foster home for him so that we may accept him into our rescue and find him a new loving home. LG is shy but friendly. Being still a pup he needs to learn some manners. A caring neighbor has been giving LJ some attention and was able to teach LJ to sit in a day. He also has been taking LJ on walks with his black lab and playing fetch with him.
If you are willing and able to provide LJ a loving home please fill out a foster home or pre-adoption application.
Billy Needs Rescue Immediately
or He will be Shot! Update: We have been notified by the Tribal pound that Billy has escaped the enclosure he was being kept in. We certainly hope he can be found again soon and brought to Fargo and into our rescue organization asap!
Poor Billy is in a regional pound where he will be shot if a rescue for him is not found ASAP! We believe that he is the same dog that had been at the pound last February and we had assumed had already been killed. That dog was very friendly and seemed to get along with other dogs through the kennel fencing. Whether or not it is the same dog, we want to give him a another chance at life and at finding a loving, forever home.
Please help Billy by offering him a foster home!
Two Dogs in Regional Pound Need Rescue!
Update: Both of these dogs have been accepted into our rescue. To our surprise Roscoe is a female so we have renamed her Gemma. She is a small lab mixed possibly with Basenji. Jackson is MUCH smaller that his pics lead you to believe. We think he is a boxer mix pup. He is only about 20-25lbs now.
Jackson (left) and Roscoe(right) have limited time in which to live. Jackson is only about 8 months old. He is brindle in color and we have been told that he could be boxer, pit or great dane mix. Roscoe is only 6 months old. He looks to be some sort of lab mix. They need to have a rescue organization commit to helping them soon otherwise they will be euthanized. We want to help but desperately need foster homes or monetary support to pay for boarding expenses.
Trucker Lost His Job - His Dog
Ends Up at Local Pound
Update: Nellie was accepted into our rescue!
Nellie ended up at a local pound when her truck driver owner lost his job and had to leave town. Sadly, this is an unfortunate plight of many dogs whose owners lose their jobs and/or homes. We don't know too much yet about Nellie, but we do know she needs a foster or adoptive home to be found by 4pm Friday, August 21st. Nellie doesn't deserve to be in this situation, please help her.
Update: A volunteer went to go meet Nellie. She had this to say... "Nellie is too cute! She looks like she has a fat little beagle body with a tiny lab/pit head!" She is not as tall as this picture leads you to believe. Her age is estimated to be about 2-3 years old.
Family pets taken to vet to be euthanized! Vet asks us to help find them a new home!
Update: Thanks to the temporary foster home who have offered to care for these dogs, we are able to accept them into our rescue program.
A family is moving and unable to rehome or take their pets with. Sadly, they took their family pets to the vet to be humanely euthanized. The vet believes these two dogs are very nice and deserve another chance to find a new home.
KC (pictured left) is believed to be a 3 year old rottweiler/labrador
retriever mix. He is a very nice dog who knows how to sit.
Deuce
(pictured right) is believed to be a basset mix because he has a long body
and short legs. He has a very nice brindle coloring and a bit longer hair
so we are not sure what else he is mixed with. He is a very nice dog who
gets along well with other dogs.
These dogs previously lived with a family with kids so we assume that they are both good with kids. We are not sure about cats. They both walk ok on a leash.
Help us to give these guys another chance at finding a loving forever home. Please offer to adopt or foster one or both of them. Click their pictures for more images of them.
Update: We have accepted Kallie into our rescue. She should be arriving in Fargo soon.
This dog (we've given her the name Kallie) has been in a regional pound for over a week and no one has come for her. Poor Kallie, she deserves better than this! Her time is running out so she needs rescue asap! Please open your heart and home to Kallie by offering her a foster home!
Update: Tessa has been accepted into our rescue!
Tessa is assumed to be a Border Collie/Shepherd mix and about 2 years old. Her time is up at a local pound but the pound staff has gratiously kept her longer than required to give us more time to find her a foster home. The pound can't hold her forever. Please offer Tessa a foster home!
Two Abandoned Dogs Need Rescue by 4pm August 5th
Update: We have a foster home lined up for the Pug/Chi mix. She will be picked up from the pound later today.
Both of these dogs need rescue so we are sending out a plea for foster homes for them. The local humane society might have room to take in the yellow lab mix so we are especially focusing our efforts on the Pug mix. Please offer these dogs a foster home.
~5 yr. old female Pug/Chihuahua mix, about 15lbs. This little girl's owner knows she is in the pound, but is not coming for her. She does have some injuries(rash mark where hair is missing and an eye injury) possibly due to abuse or by being hit by a car. She is an INCREDIBLY sweet dog! .
~2 yr. old female yellow Lab (mix?). This dog was dumped at the local humane society facility so it is assumed that no one is coming for her. The poor girl is scared to death at the pound and being there is incredibly traumatic for her. With some coaxing she will come over and rest her head against you. She seems like a dog with good potential as she already knows how to sit and shake.
Update: Both of these dogs have been accepted into our rescue. Check out their bio pages : Kallie (pitbull), Loki (lab mix)
There is a male, black lab mix who is about 1-2 years old and a adult, female, brindle pitbull in a regional pound. Their time is up and rescue is needed for them immedicately. The lab mix is behaving very well at the pound. He walks well on a leash and knows sit, come, and kennel commands. He is built tall and lean. The brindle pitbull is 1-3 years old and about 50lbs. Rumor is that she belonged to a family and they haven't come for her because of the fees and fines to bail her out. She has ben very managable at the pound and is real easy going. She doesn't pay much attention to the cats at the pound.
Both of these dogs deserve a second chance at life. Please help to give them this second chance by offering them a foster home.
Update: Blue will be accepted
into our rescue thanks to applicant who has applied to adopt him. Hopefully
Blue will be going to his new home soon!
Poor Blue is out of time at a local pound. He is about 2 yrs old. Blue is VERY well behaved. He knows sit and is very attentive. He looks like a purebred Cattle Dog. He is not very big, maybe 30 lbs. He will make someone a very nice companion if he can only get a second chance at life. Please help us rescue Blue by offering to foster him.
Update: This dog ( Edison ) will be
accepted into our rescue and will be going to a foster home soon.
This cute little dog is being neglected in his current home. We are looking for a foster home for him so that we may accept him into our rescue.
He is a 1.5 year old Maltese who is great with people and very cuddly. He is kennel trained but could use some work on potty training.
Please consider offering him a foster home!
These dogs will need rescue by 4pm TODAY - Thursday, July 30th: Update: It is our understanding that another local rescue will be accepting the terrier puppy and that the Viszla will be accepted by a Viszla breed rescue group that we contacted. Our rescue will be accepting the Shih tzu (Butch) and another local rescue will be accepting the yellow lab mix.
The following dogs need rescue by 4pm, Wednesday, July 29th- Update: The Min Pin and Basset have been accepted by another local rescue. We have accepted the Boxer (Gigi) into our rescue.

Local Pound is Full - These Dogs Need Rescue Immediately!
|
|
One of the local pounds is full and needs to move some dogs immediately. If space is needed they may need to euthanize one or more of these sweet dogs! Please help us save them - become a foster home!
Vinny is an adult, westie terrier mix. He is super friendly! We aren't sure of Sally's breed mix. She is medium sized, sweet and gentle. She is only about 10 months old. Bo is a an adult Chocolate Labradoodle (lab/poodle mix). He is a nice dog who knows how to sit and shake. He also likes to give kisses. Pepper is a lab spaniel mix. She is about 4-5 years old, very nice and mellow. Radar is about 3-5 years old and also a nice, mellow dog. He looks to be a Collie/Shepherd mix.
**Vinny (adoption pending) and Sally have been accepted into our rescue. Pepper will be taken in by another local rescue!
Update: All three of these dogs ( Dakota, Teddy, and Phil ) are being accepted into our rescue thanks to financial sponspors who have agreed to pay their boarding expenses. They all still are in need of adoptive or foster homes.
Dakota (pictured right) is a 4-6 month old, male pitbull mix. He
is a very sweet dog who justs wants to be with people and get some TLC.
Poor Dakota has found himself at a regional pound and so far no one has come for him. He is very scared in the pound and only has a few days left.
At the same pound is a 6 month old chocolate lab and another 6 month old pitbull pup. All three of these dogs need rescue before the weekend!
In order to save any of these young dogs we need foster homes to care for them. Can you help us save one of these dogs by offering a home?

Spanky is a 1 year old, neutered shepherd mix. He is a nice dog that is good with children and in general good with other dogs. His life is in danger where he currently is living. He needs to be out of there on Thursday, July 9th. Update:Spanky has been accepted into our rescue!
Peggy is a 2 year old boston terrier, pitbull(?) mix. She has been impounded at a ND pound for about 3 weeks and her days unfortunately are now limited. She needs to find a new home ASAP otherwise she may be euthanized for space reasons! Peggy is full of energy, loves to play and absolutely loves people. She gets along with most dogs at the pound. She keeps a clean kennel so it is assumed that she is housebroken. Update:Peggy has been accepted into our rescue!
None of these dogs deserve to be in the situation they are in. We want to help them but can't if we don't have foster homes to care for them. Please save a life and offer them a foster or adoptive home!
Rascal is a 2 year old, friendly, nice, handsome, male pitbull. His owner
already killed one of their other dogs (a female black lab, RIP) a few days
ago by shooting her 3 times in the face. We don't want the same fate to
happen to poor Rascal!!! We desperately need a foster home willing to care
for this dog. He deserves a chance to have a better life.
Please save a life and offer Rascal a foster home!
Update: Rascal has been accepted into our rescue!
The following dogs need a rescue by 4pm, Friday, July 9th! Please save a life by offering one of these dogs a foster home!
Update: Our rescue has accepted the Terrier mix (Henry), the Chihuahua, and the Lhasa (Sandy) . Another local rescue took in the Lab/pitbull mix. Unfortunately, we do not believe that anyone came for the young pitbull so she was most likely euthanized.
In need of rescue Monday, July 6th - Young Shih tzu mix who is very nice and not nippy at all. Update: Status Unknown.

In need of rescue Thursday, July 2nd - Two Dachshunds, Shepherd mix, and a Pitbull mix. The pitbull mix is a 1 year old female who is very much a wiggle butt, super nice, and happy about everything. June 22 Update - Rex has been accepted by a Minneapolis rescue
so he will be safe.
June 18th Update - Lulu has been accepted into our rescue.
These two dogs were picked up as strays on a nearby indian reservation and need a rescue organization to take them in. Lulu, a small female chihuahua, is safe but Rex, a short shepherd is NOT. He can be killed at any time.
We have been told that Lulu is very sweet, loves to cuddle, and loves other dogs. Rex is strikingly handsome and VERY friendly and loves to cuddle. He is estimated to be 3 years old.
The gal that voluntarily coordinates with rescues to take in stray dogs from the reservation is having difficulty finding a rescue to take them in. Like us, most rescues are full and desperately in need of foster homes. We would love to help both Lulu and Rex find loving forever homes. PLEASE - apply to be a foster home for our organization!

June 12th Update - Fred was taken in by a relative of his owner. We hope that he will have a long and happy life!
Fred is a very gentle 8 yr old Doberman Pincher who has unfortunately ended up at a local pound. He is neutered, a good walker, good with other dogs, house broken and crate trained. His owner is in the hospital with a terminal illness so no one is coming for poor Fred. Our rescue met Fred a few years ago when he was adopted from another rescue(they no longer take in dogs) so we know what a sweet, gentle dog he is. Please help us save Fred by offering a foster home for him. He only has 2 days left.

June 12th Update - Wilbur and Jack have been accepted into our rescue. Whoops - Jack is a female! She has been renamed Riley. Pablo (renamed Taco)will also be accepted into our rescue. He will be picked up from the pound later today.
June 10th Update - Marcus has been taken in by the FM Humane Society. They have named him Arthur.
These dogs unfortunately found themselves at a local pound with no one coming for them. They only have a few days before they will be euthanized. Wilbur is a 5 year old basset hound that is very friendly, Jack is a sweet, typical jack russel whose tail constantly wags and Pablo is a sweet little dog who is VERY scared at the pound! All three dogs don't deserve to be in the situation they currently are in.
Our rescue wants to give them a 2nd chance at life and finding a loving forever home but we must have foster homes willing to care for them. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE... Save a life, become a foster home!

June 8th Update - These two dogs have been accepted into our rescue. Gizmo & Peaches have been posted.

May 8th Update - We have found foster homes for Mom and the pups! They will be arriving to their foster homes this weekend. Stay tuned for more info.
These adorable pups and their mom are in need of rescue. Mom is a stray on a South Dakota reservation. She is pure white, probably malamute mix, and gets along well with people and dogs in the neighborhood. Mom has had many litters of pups, of which most of them don't survive. These three 8-week old pups were taken in by a caring woman because a group of neighborhood kids were doing "bad things" to the puppies. This woman can only care for the pups for a short time and finding homes for the pups locally will be difficult.
We
desperately are in need of foster or adoptive homes for Mom and her pups.
Please help by applying
to become a foster home for our rescue organization.

Diago is a neutered, 5yr old Rottie mix. He needs to find a new foster or forever home by May 1st or he may end up being taken to the pound. He has unusually coloring as he is black but his legs and face are brindle. He is a well mannered dog. He is very overweight and currently does not get a lot of exercise. We are told that he gets along with cats and other dogs. He also does well with kids.
Help us to find this dog a new home before he ends up at the pound. Please consider fostering or adopting Diago.

April 29th Update - Coco has been accepted into our rescue and is now safely in her new foster home.
This young, chocolate lab mix was dumped along with her pups at a woman's residence. She was not allowed to have dogs but could not turn her back on this dog. She found homes for the puppies but Momma dog needs a rescue ASAP because the woman who found her is being threatened with eviction if she does not rehome the dog.
We are willing to help, but first we need an approved foster home willing to care for her. Please consider becoming a foster home for us and fill out a foster home application.

April 25th Update - Someone has agreed to foster Scarface for us so he will be accepted into our rescue program.
This dog's owner had been living in a hotel on and off for 2 years. Now
the owner is homeless and her dog is at a boarding facility. The staff at
the boarding facility said he is a nice dog and seems to do good with other
dogs. His name is Scarface, due to his cleft palette.
We would like to take this dog into our rescue so that we may find him a new forever home. If you are willing to provide him a foster or forever home, please fill out a foster or pre-adoption application.

April 5th Update - We found Luna a foster home! Luna made her debut at our April 4th Meet the Dogs - Adoption Days event. She was a little leery of all the activity but enjoyed the human attention she was getting. Latest report indicates she is doing well in her foster home.
As a rescue organization we are often made aware of animal cruelty situations, not only locally but around the region. Just this week we were notified of a female husky who lived her life tied to a tree with a homemade old dog house, a heavy chain and absolutely no human attention. Luna lived day and night, summer and winter tied to the tree alone. Over a week ago, her owner moved away and left Luna tied to the tree. Luna was impounded. Poor Luna is miserable in the pound.
We have offered to take Luna into our rescue. We are looking for a foster or adoptive home for her. If you are willing to show Luna what a loving home is suppose to be like, please fill out a foster home or pre-adoption application

April 3rd Update - We have found an emergency foster for Rocky. Three dogs that were being housed at the Fairgrounds Emergency Shelter have been surrendered as their owners feel it is in the dogs best interest to rehome them since their farm has been flooded. They love their dogs, visited them while they were at the shelter, and are very sad to have to rehome them. One of the dogs is being adopted by one of the animal shelter workers, another is being taken in by another local rescue. Poor Rocky misses his friends and is sad that he has no where to go. We are looking for an emergency foster home for Rocky.
Rocky is a 10 year old, male Rottweiller/Shepherd mix. He is neutered,
house trained, good with dogs, cats, and kids. He is a really sweet and easy
going dog. Despite his age he LOVES to play ball and will jump to catch
them. Rocky was previously a farm dog but would love to adapt to becoming
an indoor dog.
Please fill out a foster home application if you can help by providing Rocky an emergency foster home.

April 3rd Update - Another rescue has been found that is
able to take both of these dogs. They will be safe! The owner
of these dogs is in the hospital and is expected to be there several months.
There was no one left to care for the dogs so they were taken to a regional
pound. Cole is a 10 year old collie/lab mix. Pooky is a 8 year old Pointer/Dalmatian
mix. These dogs don't deserve to die, they deserve homes that will provide
them love and attention!
Older dogs often have difficulties finding rescue organizations to take them in. Our rescue does not discriminate, we want to help! Please fill out a foster home or pre-adoption application if you can help by providing a foster or adoptive home.

March 29th Update: We have a foster home for this puppy!
He has been named Wrigley.
This poor puppy had been abandoned in the basement of a home
for an unknown period of time. When he was found he was covered in urine
and feces, and was underweight, dehydrated and very scared. The gal that
assisted in his rescue reports that he is now a happy, cuddly, playful puppy
and has gained several pounds since his rescue. She will be going to court
to assist with the criminal prosecution of the owner of the house.
His rescuer is now looking for a rescue organization to take in this pup and find him a responsible, loving home.We are looking for a foster home who can care for this pup. Please fill out a foster home application if you would like to provide this pup a loving, temporary home.

March 19th Update - We possibly have a foster home for Yale if the adoption of the dog they are currently
fostering dog works out.
Yale is a 6 year old American Staffordshire Terrier is in need of a new
home. His owner, a single working mom who also is attending school, isn't
home enough with him. Because of this he has started barking and now the
landlord requires him to go.
Yale is very loving, kind, and gentle, even a bit timid. He has been around children and other dogs his whole life. His family is "afraid the worst might happen to him if we can't find a place for him".
We would like to take Yale into our rescue so that we may find him a loving, responsible home. If you are willing to provide Yale a foster or forever home, please fill out a foster or pre-adoption application.

March 14th Update - Both are now
safe - Princess is now being cared for by one
of our foster homes. Tigertoos will be going to live with a neighbor.
Princess & Tigertoos' elderly owners are losing their home, and don't
know what to do with their pets. They have made an appointment to have them
both euthanized. We don't want to see that happen so we are looking for
foster or adoptive homes for these two!
Princess is a 1 year old, female, lab mix. She is a sweet, calm dog who enjoys playing with Tigertoos, the cat. She is a quick learner and knows some commands. Tigertoos is a 1 year old, male cat. He uses his litter box and likes to eat dry food.

5th Update - We have foster homes lined up for these two dogs. Luis will
be transported to us on Saturday. Max will arrive next week.
Besides Smooch, the yellow lab in the article below, we are now aware of two more dogs desperately needing a home.
Luis, pictured left, was found in the woods near Brainerd. He was freezing and very hungry. He looks to be a small lab/shepherd mix and has a beautiful red coat. The Brainered Humane Society is full and cannot take him so we have been asked to help.
Max, pictured below, is believed to be a golden retriever/setter mix. His
time was up at a regional animal control facility. A staff member at the
vet clinic where he was taken to be euthanized didn't want him to die so
she contacted us for help.
We would love to help all of these dogs but need more foster homes willing to care for them. If you would like to help by providing any of these dogs a loving, forever or foster home, please fill out a pre-adoption or foster application asap!

foster for Smooch. We are working on arranging transport to Fargo for him.
Our rescue has been contacted by another rescue organization about this 14 month old, male, yellow lab mix dog named Smooch. He is very friendly and good with both dogs and cats. He is currently at the animal control shelter in Sioux City Iowa and only has until Thursday to find a rescue to take him. The shelter is full and they plan to euthanize Smooch for space reasons.

March 3rd: 12:40pm Update - Eddie and the yorkie mix have been posted in our dog gallery.
Poor Eddie is way out of time at a local pound. He looks a lot like a Springer Spaniel/Great Pyrennes cross. He is about 2 years old, neutered, friendly and looking for a second chance to find a loving forever family. He had an owner who was contacted but that owner gave Eddie away to someone and doesn't want him back. How Sad!
There is also a 1 year old Lab/Pitbull mix and a 2 year old Yorkie (mix?) that must find a rescue to take them by 4pm on Monday. The Lab/Pit mix is a very nice dog and only weighs about 45lbs. The yorkie is about 8lbs, extremely sweet, and likes to be held. Unfortunately we are unable to get pictures of these two.
We are desperate to save Eddie and the other urgent dogs in the pound this week. But cannot unless we find fosters for all of them. PLEASE HELP!!! They have NO TIME left!

February 13th Update - We will be taking these puppies into
our rescue program as we now have foster homes for them. They will be arriving
on Saturday!
There are 4 puppies, about 6 weeks old, in need of a warm, safe home. Daisy,
their mom, is a 15-20lb sweetie who looks like the world's smallest german
shepherd! Their dad is unknown. Click their pictures to see more pictures
of Daisy and her puppies.
Daisy and her babies were outside in the cold until their neighbors convinced the owners to let them take the dog family into their home so the puppies would not freeze. The kind neighbors found one of the Daisy's previous puppies frozen to death outside several months ago when he was 3 months old. When they found out she had had more puppies they were determined not to let it happen again. They have also offered to have Daisy spayed.
We would like to help find Daisy's puppies warm, loving, and responsible homes. If you can help by providing either a forever or foster home, please fill out a pre-adoption or foster application.

We have found a foster home for this guy! He has been named
Obie.
This cutie is some sort of Jack Russell mix. He is much larger than a Jack Russell (40 lbs) but definitely has the personality characteristics of a Jack Russell. He is about 4 years old, friendly, and neutered. He is curious about cats but not in an aggressive way. He probably would chase a cat if given the opportunity. He knows how to sit for a treat.
We would love to save this sweetie and find him a new home, but we need someone to foster him until that forever home can be found. Please save a life by offering to become a foster home.

Feb 3rd Update - We have found a foster home for Bruno and have started a Fundable collection to raise the $450 needed for his surgery. Please help Bruno by making a donation!
Sweet Bruno was hit by a car earlier this week. He was found on the side of the road by a good Samaritan who brought him to a Vet Clinic where he quickly won the hearts of the staff. He is 1-2 yrs old, neutered, and does well with dogs & cats. He will need surgery on his back legs and eventually one of his front legs with need to be amputated. He loves people so much that he pulls himself around the clinic on his one good leg to greet people. He will even drag himself up a small set of stairs to greet the staff and get some TLC.

Feb 7th Update -All of the german shepherd puppies have been adopted! The rescue is now focusing on finding homes for the springer mix puppies.
Feb 1st Update -As of 5:30pm today, the springer spaniel gave birth to 11 puppies!
The Prairie Paws Rescue
in Jamestown recently took in
7 German Shepherd puppies about 10 weeks old
that were in need of help at the mall parking lot. The owner is over-whelmed
with too many dogs (OVER 20!) and no food to feed them. It was a sad sight
as these poor dogs were all huddled in the corner of the pick-up box not
knowing what their fate would be when Prairie Paws Rescue was called on
the scene. They couldn't take one or two and leave the rest behind. So all
the puppies were taken along with a pregnant Springer Spaniel. They are
in URGENT need of foster homes for these purebred pups. And, they will be
able to help the rest of the dogs if they can find more foster homes. If
you can help, please contact Prairie Paws Rescue: (701) 485-3838;

There is a young Boxer in a local pound that needs out by 4pm on Thursday, January 15th. This poor dog was found trying to stay warm in this horribly cold weather by curling up on someone's front porch. Sorry, no picture available!
Beau is a beautiful 1-2 yr old male Yellow lab who is also in a local pound
and his time is up. He has a sweet temperament and from what we observed
not too hyper. This poor dog needs another chance to find a family that
will treasure him. We would like to rescue Beau but our foster homes are
beyond full. Click Beau's picture to see more pictures of him.
We desperately want to help these dogs, but we must have foster homes willing to care for them. All of our current foster homes are caring for the other dogs in our rescue. Please fill out a foster home application ASAP if you can help by providing one of these dogs a temporary home.

There are three 2-3mos. old German Shepherd mix puppies and a 3 year old Pomeranian mix in need of a rescue by the end of the day (Wednesday, January 7th). The puppies are very sweet and adorable, black with tan markings. The Pom mix is also very sweet and cute.

January 12th Update - Our rescue has accepted these two pups into our program despite still not having foster homes for them. We just couldn't let them continue to live where they were. They are currently being boarded at a local boarding kennel. We would appreciate any financial assistance you can provide us to help us pay for this expense. They have been named Trixie and Dixie.
The owner of these 6 month old pups needs to rehome them. Since they are currently living in less than ideal conditions we would like to find them a foster or adoptive home ASAP.
Please contact us (email info@4luvofdog.com or call 701-205-0190) ASAP if you can help by providing them a temporary or forever home.

Jan 3rd Update: Momma dog, whom we've named Elsie, was pulled from the pound yesterday afternoon and sent on her way to a temporary foster home. This was just in time as she started to give birth last night! She whelped 5 puppies - 3 male and 2 female. Mom and babies all seem very healthy and happy. Elsie is a wonderful mother.
There is a pregnant Black and White Spaniel, possibly mixed with Border Collie, at one of the local pounds. Her time is up there. We need to find a foster home for her and her pups to stay at until the pups are old enough to go to other homes.
Please contact us (email info@4luvofdog.com or call 701-205-0190) ASAP if you can help.

URGENT: Dog Stuck at Pound on
Christmas Needs Rescue
Dec 31st Update: It is our understanding that the finder of this dog
pulled it from the pound.
A young, sweet pitbull dog sadly ended up at one of the local pounds on Christmas Eve. The individual that went to evaluate the dog had this to say about her "She is a doll, and very submissive. The poor thing just sat in her kennel, shaking as I was petting her. "
How horrible that this dog had to spend Christmas at the pound! We would love to see this poor dog rescued and in a home in time for the New Year. Please fill out a foster home application ASAP if you would like to help this dog.

UPDATE: We were able to save both Jesse & James!
Happily were were able to save both of these dogs. James, who has been renamed Samson, is staying with one of our wonderful foster homes who was willing to foster another dog. Jesse currently is in boarding until after the holidays when a foster home should be available for him. We also took in another Chihuahua whom we named Lyda. Sadly, her owner did not come looking for her.
SUPER URGENT: Jesse & James only
have until Monday Tuesday!
Update: These dogs have been given one extra day to find a rescue to take them. We still don't have a foster home able to take them right now. Please apply to be a foster home ASAP if you can help save these dogs.
Jesse and James are 2 dogs that have run out of time at a local pound. They
came into together and seem like old friends. They are very sweet dogs who
need another chance to find a loving forever family. Sadly the chance may
not come along. Our rescue is full and has no open foster homes and therefore
we can not take these dogs in. We think these 2 boys are about 2 yrs old.
Jesse, the American Staffordshire, is on the short side and James, the Lab mix, is a bit larger. Please contact us ASAP if are interested in helping either dog. We only have the weekend to find them spots.
Click either picture to see more pictures of them. Please contact us ASAP if are interested in helping either dog. We only have the weekend to find them spots. If you would like to be a foster home for us, please fill out a foster home application.

It is our understanding that another new rescue in the Fargo area has taken in the Momma dog and her six pups. Please see their website, It's a Dog's World, for more info.
Posted November 9, 2008A local gentlemen found a stray female hound mix a few weeks ago and was trying to find a rescue for her rather than take her to the pound. Yesterday she gave birth to 6 puppies! Unfortunately the man who found the momma dog is unable to provide appropriate care for a nursing mom with 6 puppies.
Local rescues are trying to find a foster home willing to care for momma
and her puppies. If you would like to help, please contact 4 Luv of Dog
Rescue ASAP by calling (701)205-0190 and filling out a foster

has all been accepted into our rescue.
Posted November 6
This adorable young pup is out of time at a local pound and he desperately
wants to live and find a forever family! He only has until Monday, November
3rd to find a rescue to take him.
We have named him Boo in the spirit of Halloween. Boo is a young, 6 month old, male pitbull puppy. He is good with dogs and cats. A cat batted Boo in the face and Boo didn't react! Boo is a very friendly young dog who deserves a chance to live and find a loving family.
Sadly we have no open foster spots for Boo at this time. If you would like to help Boo by providing him a foster home, please contact 4 Luv of Dog Rescue ASAP by calling (701)205-0190 and filling out a foster home application.

Relic
(left), and Taz (right) have all been accepted
into our rescue.

These two pups were found running together. It is assumed that they
are siblings and some sort of shepherd golden mix. The female is pictured
on the left and the male on the right. Click the pictures to view a larger
version of them. They are both very friendly and know how to sit.
Unfortunately, they have limited time. We would love to take them in but first need a foster home available for them. Foster homes are a very important part of our rescue as without people willing to open their hearts and homes we cannot help rescue these homeless dogs.
If you would like to help these pups by providing them a foster home please contact 4 Luv of Dog Rescue ASAP by calling (701)205-0190 and filling out a foster home application.

Luna is a very pretty, petite Pitbull who has run out of time at a local
pound. She is about 1-2 yrs old, white with light brindle patches. She appears
to be friendly with other dogs and so far has not paid much attention to

loose and now is in the pound. Her time is up and we would like to save
this young, sweet dog but do not have any foster homes available.

found a wonderful foster home for the Mastiff/Boxer, these two dogs are safe.
July 5 Caeser update - Cesar is safe. We could not let this
young, beautiful, sweet dog die. He will most likely be going to another regional
rescue for Rottweilers, we will post his rescue status as soon as we confirm
that the other rescue will take him. Until then he is in our care and doing
well. He loves to be with people and enjoys going for walks and getting affection.
He is neutered, up to date on shots and is heartworm negative. If he stays
with 4 Luv of Dog he will need a foster home and his adoption fee will be
$120.
2 Dogs in Local Pound Need Foster Home ASAP! Update: Both dogs have
been rescued. Our organization has found other regional rescue organizations
to take them. They will be staying with some wonderful foster homes of ours
until transportation can be arranged for them.
Bonnie and Clyde, 2 Urgent Victims of Iowa Floods rescued and now
safe! Bonnie was adopted locally in Iowa. Clyde (now Bradley) found
a home in our area.
Original post: Clyde had no hope for rescue so one of our volunteers drove 6 hours round trip and picked him up on Sunday, June 22nd. We are always in need of gas donations for transports like these. The volunteer also picked up a tiny puppy who had also run out of time. The 2 dogs traveled back to Fargo together and are now safe and sound. The puppy already had an approved home waiting for him. But Clyde is still waiting for his home. We have renamed him Bradley (after Brad Pitt). He is SOOOOO handsome so we figured we had to rename him (he he). He is a stunning dog. Bradley is good with other dogs and we are seeing about cats. He is a good listener and seems to learn quickly. He looks very Boxer like in person. We think he maybe a Boxer/American Staffordshire terrier mix. Posted June 23
Mom and five puppies rescued. We are happy to report that
Emily and 2 of her pups are in trial to adopt homes. The 3 remaining pups
were driven to another rescue today by one of our volunteers. They now have
their second chance at a happy life. Please remember every week there are
dogs that end up in the Fargo Moorhead pounds and to save these dogs from
death we need foster homes! You can help save a life by fostering a dog!| Click here to view prior news articles. | |
