September 7th -Odie (Odin) is a HOOT. My daughter,
she is 14 loves to play with him. My husband and son desperately want
to but I think as MEN they are afraid of getting attached!
He definitely has some bad habits that we are slow to work on with him
because he looks at me with those big brown eyes and I MELT! He is best
friends with our dogs and the cats just walk by and ignore him. He loves
to play with ANY dog or cat and sometimes... Odie has found that not all
furry creatures think he is as fun and playful as he thinks he is!
He is very good at going INTO his kennel but once in there, he has developed
a SAD SAD CRY. We are working with him on this. It is especially hard
at night as we are not getting much sleep. Our own fault really as he
was such a good dog until ummmmm he became a teenager (he recently was
neutered, so that will calm down those hormones) Wow, he listens MOST
of the time but will look at us like we are aliens and just keep on doing
his own thing!
I do not think that it'll be too much longer until this phase has passed
as he is already showing signs of realizing that we aren't kidding anymore!
But just like teenagers he is testing us! He is extremely smart and knows
what buttons to push on me just how far I will go. So now it is gonna
be a train the foster mom to quit loving this sweetheart to the point
of spoiling him!
Some fun things about Odie! He loves lazar lights! When it is raining
out we exercise him by standing on the coffee table with the lazer light
and ODIE runs SERIOUSLY runs circles around the coffee table and up the
stairs and in the kitchen where he SLIDES across the floor. It is hilarious!!
He loves other animals as I mentioned above. He is also GREAT with kids!
I wish we could add Odie to our home but it isn't the right time, that
is why we are fostering as we know these dogs that are saved will be someone's
best friend and forever pet. We are proud to be foster parents!
July 20th - Odin (we call him Odie) has been in our foster home now 5 days and WOW what a difference. He is starting to learn house manners and is so smart that he is learning very quickly. He knows kennel up and sit. We are working on leaving shoes alone and staying out of the garbage can. He is quickly catching on to the "wait for it" command with treats and that should be mastered shortly. He loves to be outside with his people and really enjoys tossing his ball up in the air and will play fetch by himself, we are still working on bringing the ball to us for a game of fetch. Odie gets along great with our dog and is wonderful with cats. Odie does piddle when he gets really excited, but we have noticed an improvement with this and will continue to work on it. He has a lot of energy and loves kids, however because he is an energetic dog, we are recommending an older child home for him because he may accidentally knock over the little one's. Odie is a wonderful dog who is waiting patiently for his forever home.
