Name: Josie
Breed: American Pitbull Terrier Mix (Boxer?, Chesapeake?)
Age: 1 year
Size:Medium
Adoption Donation: $135
Other: Spayed female, vaccinations current

Josie is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs. She absolutely LOVES attention! She is quick to learn and loves to please.

She is 100% potty trained and kennel trained.

Josie is a very smart, loving dog, but do to her size we do not reccomend her for small children. She has a tendency to jump up to greet you (we are working on correcting this) so she would do best in a home with older children/teenagers.

We are recommending a home without cats for Josie.

Please read Josie's foster feedback for more info about her.

June 23rd - Joise really digs the treadmill. She will sit and beg to have a little run and plop herself down on the track until you allow her some action.

April 14 - Josie has come a long ways and is a very quick learner! She is absolutely 100% potty trained, is now quite willing to "kennel" when we come and go, sits (although a tad impatiently) for her food, is learning to sit to come inside and for other events, and has made vast improvement not jumping up to greet people. (Although she definitely still has a lot of "spring" in her step after being let out of the crate in the morning or after work!) Once she settles down, or after a walk, Josie is really amazingly calm in the house. She plays with whatever dogs come and go in the house with very little adjustment required on her part (and we have had lots of canine visitors lately from very small to very big).

Josie does insist on following you around and laying by your feet whenever possible. She definitely wants to know what you are doing at all times and what is going on -- "Nosy Josie" we have dubbed her. She will lay patiently outside the door of whatever room you are in if the door is shut.

Josie is also quite insistent on laying across your lap, should you seat yourself on the floor. (She is not allowed on our furniture and is staying off nicely.) She has not exhibited any chewing tendancies or destructive behavior whatsoever the entire time she has been with us. She luvs to pay with a large Kong and it has proven to be indestructible.

All around, Josie is a very friendly, loving doggie who is quick to learn and loves to please.

March 16 - When we picked up Josie at the pound, the staff had only nice things to say about this gentle girl. She calmly went with us, but had to be encouraged to get into the back seat of the car. She rode nicely in the car on the ride to her new foster home, although trying to distract us with wet kisses in our ears.

Josie was so excited to be at a real people home again, and followed us around all evening, plopping down in each room we were in and sleeping almost immediately. She sure must’ve gotten worn out during her stay at the pound and was glad to find nice soft doggie beds in almost every room in her new foster home.

Josie seems to be potty trained, although does better on a leash than shooing her into the fenced yard to do her business. I imagine she will adjust. She is in need of some manners though as she jumps up to greet people and is oblivious to the words “sit,” “down,” “stay,” etc. She is learning quickly though as she already is picking up on when we say, and mean, “No” and after only one night is sitting more easily at request. We are working on the crate training also ...it is definitely not voluntary on her part to be crated at night or when we are gone, but she is accepting once she is kenneled.

Although Josie is probably only about a year old, she is very calm for that age. She is getting along with the three other dogs in the house, but is still trying to figure out what are appropriate tactics for playing with a dog 20% her size.

Tonight Josie had some small people visitors and loved every minute of it. She was not shy and definitely was lapping up the attention.

Even after only a day, she loves to be with us at every moment and is like a little lamb following us around at all times. She would love to be your companion – guaranteed she will be at your side whenever allowed.
