November 4th - xDakota or Koda Bear is definitely turning into a little love bug! He wants to be wherever you are! He likes to be laying right next to you or if you dont allow him on the coach he will find his dog bed and lay on it. He is great about going into his kennel doesn't fuss or whine once he is in it, I wish I could say the same for my own dog!

He hasn't had an accident inside since the first day and he is really good about getting outside and doing his business right away. Ive taken him on runs before but he would much rather go on a nice walk and enjoy himself! He is great on a leash! Never pulls or lags behind and he is always looking up at you to see if he is doing a good job.

Koda is the role model for puppy dog eyes as well, if your sitting on the coach watching tv and not petting him he will look up at you with eye's that I didn't think any dog could make! He would do better in a home with no cats and preferably no small dogs. He would love to be an only dog and get all the attention although he does fine with his pitbull sister. I also think he would be fine around kids, I've done everything a small child would do from poking him all over and laying on him and he does great! He wants to give lots of kisses! He jumps when he gets really excited but he has learned not to jump on me anymore, so I think he would be fine once you set the rules down. He would love a forever home to share his many kisses with!

October 13th I've only had him for a couple days now but he is doing great! He is a lot smaller then I thought he was going to be, I'm 5'4 and his back barely reaches my knees! He has only had one accident in his kennel so far, but that was my fault, he tried to let me know. He stomach has still been getting settled to new better food than from what he was on in the boarding facility he was at. I have brought him outside to go potty and he never wanders away from me, he does his business and likes to go back inside! We are still working on some manners such as jumping but he picks up on things really easily! He doesn't really pull when we go on walks and he gets along with our other dog great. He still definitely has a lot of puppy and play in him! I bring him to doggy daycare and he seems to get along fine with everyone, although he is a little more curious with smaller dogs so I would recommend a house with bigger dogs. He likes to cuddle on the bed with you if you let him, but he does sleep in his kennel at night and is really good about going into it! He would be a great addition to any family! I've provided some new pictures of him, since his old pictures do him no justice!

October 5th Volunteer update - I have been taking Dakota to obedience classes and he has been doing wonderfully. The trainer was impressed by his behavior and how quickly he picks up on things. I can see a difference in him already. He is a wonderful dog; he loves attention and is happy to see everyone; his smile is impossible to resist.

Dakota walks wonderfully on the leash after he gets a little of his energy worked out. However, we think that this is due to the fact that he’s been living in a kennel and is not getting the exercise/interaction he needs.

Dakota doesn’t like cats, but does okay with small dogs. I have a pug who is also coming to obedience classes with us to work with Dakota on his behaviors. Moses and Dakota are playful most of the time; but every-so-often Dakota becomes a little intimidating. We are working very hard to over come this and have made huge strides in how he reacts to smaller animals; however, the trainer said it is imperative that they need constant supervision when they are together because of their size difference.

Dakota picks up on things immediately and wants to please people very much. Since he has been going to obedience classes he sits in the kennel, waiting for you to take him out and walks nicely on the leash, rather than jumping up and down out of control and dragging you out the door. Although he still has things to work on, he would make a wonderful pet.

September 2 Volunteer Update - I had the pleasure of bringing Dakota home with me for just a little while before his obedience training. He did AWESOME with my two dogs and foster dog (Ivan). He was absolutely in heaven running around the yard with three other playmates and was very well behaved. Next time his training volunteer needs my assistance I will take some pictures of them all having a blast together in the backyard!
