The goal of 4 Luv of Dog Rescue is to care for every dog, even those that have medical needs. Our organization is run by unpaid volunteers who spend a majority of their free time rescuing and caring for homeless dogs who are in a situation beyond their control.
Just because a dog has an infection, diabetes, needs a leg amputated, or has an emergency medical need, we do not turn them away or leave them untreated. We work to get them the medical care and treatment they need as quickly as possible. For this reason, we need your generous help now.
Over the past few
months, we have been confronted with the challenge of funding the veterinary
expenses incurred for two more dogs (Petey and Gracie) with a life-threatening
disease known as canine parvovirus, two dogs (Joe and Tasha) with a serious
and painful eye condition called entropion, and another dog (Teddy) in need
of immediate amputation of one leg. With all of our other recurring expenses,
these vet bills, which totaled over $2800, are significant costs for a small
rescue group. Unfortunately, it is not the first and it will not be the
last time we struggle to pay our bills due to excessive veterinary expenses.
We believe that all of these dogs can and will live very good, productive lives in their forever homes. Every penny spent to ensure that they will begin their new lives in a happy, healthy condition is well worth it.

4 Luv of Dog Rescue will not compromise on the care provided to the dogs in our rescue program. We are determined to provide for all of their needs until we can place them in their forever home, but we need your help to do this. We are seeking funds to help us cover the increasing veterinary costs we incur as the number of dogs we rescue continues to escalate. At the end of 2008 we had an average of 20-25 dogs in our rescue at one time. We currently average anywhere from 50 to 65 dogs in need of a temporary safe haven. You can imagine the veterinary costs, in addition to the routine expenses of providing basic care to that many dogs. Without your financial support there is no way we can provide the care these animals need and deserve. Any funding you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Your financial support will go directly to the medical needs of our dogs. Thank you for your support!

Dogs in Need of Rescue from Local Pounds!
We are aware of the following dogs in local pounds that will need rescue soon if their owners do not come for them. We are unable to help rescue these dogs if we don't have foster homes willing to care for them. Fostering can be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing a true dog lover can ever do to support dogs in need. Please help, apply to become a Foster Home!
The following dogs will need rescue commitment by 4pm on Thursday, February 4th :

The following dogs have been accepted by other local rescue organizations:
Spot is a sweet, 6-8 months old, Pointer mix who is looking for a foster or adoptive home. We would love to take him into our rescue but need a committed foster first. He is good with dogs and cats. We know he would make a wonderful companion.
Please consider helping Spot by filling out a foster or pre-adoption application.
Poor Jada is a beautiful pitbull who was taken in by a regional shelter. When she was found she had many quills in her face which must have been very painful, but despite her pain she was very loving towards the humans that helped her. Jada is a very sweet and smart dog. She has been attending introductory dog obedience training classes and has done great!!
The shelter that found her has had her for several months and her time is running out there. 4 Luv of Dog Rescue has been asked to help save Jada by taking her into our rescue. We would love to accept this smart, obedient dog into our care but first we need a committed foster home.
Please help us save Jada by offering her a foster or adoptive home.
The American Veterinary Medical Association has declared February as National Pet Dental Month. Not only does proper dental care prevent bad breath it is vital in maintaining your pet's general health. If teeth are not properly cared for, pets can develop many diseases from bacteria entering the bloodstream through inflamed, bleeding or infected gums. Additionally, gum disease and abscessed teeth can be very painful for your pet.
We would like to encourage all dog owners to properly care for their dog's teeth. Also, check with your regular vet clinic as they may be offering free dental screenings or other discounts during the month of February.
Foster Homes Needed!
Being a foster home is not easy. Taking a dog into your home, caring for him, loving him, and then letting him go to a new forever home can be difficult. But, fostering can be the most rewarding and fulfilling thing a true dog lover can ever do to support dogs in need.
Foster homes are the most important part of our rescue. Every week there are dogs in need of rescue in local and regional pounds. Without people willing to open their hearts and homes and offering to care for these dogs, we can not help rescue these homeless dogs. Foster homes provide the love and shelter while 4 Luv of Dog Rescue provides and pays for all necessities (food, kennel, medical care, etc.).
One person can make a difference in this world. That
person can be you.
Save a life, adopt or foster a homeless animal.

We started off the year with an average of 20 dogs in foster homes, a few more in boarding, and averaged about 14 adoptions per month. Within two to three months, those numbers had nearly doubled. We rescued dogs from local and regional pounds, received calls from owners who could no longer keep their pets, and from owners who needed help feeding their pets.
The year ended with a very busy month of taking in dogs from the pounds that were filling up and from many owners wanting or needing to surrender their pets. We were at an all-time high of over 70 dogs in our rescue, and approximately 65 foster homes. We never imagined we would have this many dogs to care for at one time.
We placed 301 dogs in new homes in 2009 and rescued even more that are still awaiting their forever home. Approximately 57% of the dogs have come from pounds, where they would have been euthanized if we had not rescued them. The remaining 43% were surrendered by owners who could no longer provide for their continued care.
